Broadsheet is an independent digital newspaper for readers who want the day explained rather than merely relayed. We publish reporting, analysis and argument across politics, world affairs, business, culture and science — written to be read slowly and kept.
We believe a newspaper should behave like one. Our front page is not a feed. It rearranges itself through the day: an agenda-setting lead in the morning, three columns of analysis at midday, a long-read layout in the evening, and a quiet single column at night. Every article carries a reading profile — an honest estimate of the time and attention it asks of you — because we think that is information a reader is owed before the first paragraph.
What we cover
Six sections, each edited by people who have spent years in the subject: Politics, the power and accountability of public institutions; World, dispatches from our correspondents; Business, the forces shaping the economy; Culture, the arts and the ideas behind them; Science, discovery explained without condescension; and Opinion, argument we are willing to sign our names to.
How we work
We correct openly and without defensiveness. We separate reporting from opinion and label which is which. We do not chase the fastest reaction; we try to earn the more useful second thought. If we get something wrong, we would rather you heard it from us.
